ABSTRACT
Communication skills training has typically concentred on the interaction between health professional and patient. However in the course of a day a health professional will inter act with many people other than patients. Senior clinicians may not only be in charge of a clinical team but may also be responsible for teaching junior staff both within and with out their own disciplines. Chapter 10 will look at the more formal interactions between professionals and teaching, while this chapter looks at day-to-day communication issues.
