ABSTRACT
Assessment of communication and consultation skills may be carried out by a variety of methods. There are trends in assessment just as there are trends in other aspects of clinical education. The method of assessment will depend on the level of the examination: high stakes such as medical finals or professional examinations, or university end of year examinations for example. Because of the underlying topic of this book we will only consider assessment in relation to the use of SPs.
