ABSTRACT

This is a useful exercise in itself, as it will have encouraged you to reflect on how your organisation works and to think more widely about the factors that influence learning in that organisation. You may have done the rating individually or you may have completed it in collaboration with colleagues (the latter approach generally serves as a valuable stimulus for discussion). Now I want to help you to convert this assessment into a form that can be used for further analysis and the drawing up of an action or development plan for your organisation. We shall cover the final three stages of the process, which can be summarised as follows:

• stage 3 - mapping your organisation • stage 4 - defining a critical factor for improvement • stage 5 - drawing up a development plan to improve the critical factor.
