ABSTRACT

Health care professionals have invested a considerable amount of resources in their Electronic medical record (EPR) system. They have set up data recording guidelines and are running regular reviews to check that the information being recorded is of good quality. If they are consistently recording all their prescriptions, consultations and information coming in and going out of the practice they have a wonderful source of information about their patient population that is invaluable to professionals. All those chronic disease registers they have to keep for chronic disease collaboratives and preventative healthcare are a doddle. All professionals need to do is set up a report that looks for the information needed and run it as and when needed. They can easily search their information to check that their patients are on the cheapest, effective medication available.
