ABSTRACT

Health-care professionals have decided that an Electronic medical record system is for them. They have checked that there is nothing happening at a provincial or national policy level that affects what they do. All of the major system vendors visited the practice and demonstrated their systems. Eventually, the primary care team agreed that Dr Jones would review the proposals and make a decision. The General practice/practitioners agreed that if Dr Jones could not choose between the two systems after reviewing the proposals the final decision would be based on expected costs over a five-year period. Dr Jones was very thankful that he had asked all the vendors to provide their proposals in the same format as it made it easier to compare them. Dr Jones found that even after he had reviewed the proposals the choice was still between the two systems that the primary care team had been discussing.
