Drugs with ● sedative effects are not the same as sedative drugs. Sedationists need to understand pharmacological principles, as ● these will guide their decision making with regard to choice of technique and choice of drug used. No one single sedative drug will be ideal for every situation. ● Although some drugs have specifi c antidotes, many do not. The ● use of a specifi c antidote implies that overdosage has occurred, and the patient will require specifi c observation.
