ABSTRACT
Healthcare workers must have a good understanding of the basic legal framework within which they practise, including knowledge of the regulatory, statutory and ethical standards which govern their activities. This chapter will not provide an exhaustive analysis of the potential legal pitfalls relating to sedation, but it will give a brief outline of the common concepts of which sedationists should be aware.
