ABSTRACT

J. This patient has diabetes, but has no other risk factors of arterial disease. The COCP can be used with caution. A low-strength preparation containing 20 mcg ethinylestradiol would have been particularly suitable; however, she has mid-cycle bleeding, and thus a standard strength or a phased preparation is more likely to work. Biphasic and triphasic preparations contain ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel or ethinylestradiol and norethisterone.
