ABSTRACT
E. Patients have a right to refuse to participate in clinical research. It is important though to examine the characteristics of those who refuse to participate, because refusal by a specific subgroup is a form of selection bias that needs to be considered by the investigators to assess its possible impact on the outcomes of the study and the generalisability of its conclusions.
