ABSTRACT

The activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) test measures the length of time that it takes for clotting to occur when reagents are added to plasma in a test tube. Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a protein produced in the placenta of pregnant women. A pregnancy test is a specific blood or urine test that can detect HCG and confirm pregnancy. Prolactin can be released in response to stress, levels are high during pregnancy, and during lactation breastfeeding results in increased release of prolactin. Once the speculum is in place, the clinician checks for any irritation, growth or abnormal discharge from the cervix. Certain tests can be performed by collecting cervical mucus and/or cells on a cotton swab. Urodynamics refers to a group of diagnostic procedures that are performed in order to evaluate voiding disorders. Different tests are used for lower and upper urinary assessment.
