ABSTRACT

Good organisation and preparation is key to getting the most out of any educational activity for more than one reason. That not only means providing quality education but also double checking every stage in the organisation of the event to make sure that everything runs smoothly and that nothing is left to chance. The educational environment is important in the healthcare professions in the way that it can encourage less well-defined behaviours such as ‘professionalism’ or ‘bedside manner’. The budget for education and training is sufficient for the majority of course fees and cover that have been prioritised from personal reviews or anticipated from service changes and there is regular protected time for learning as organisation-wide or work-place events. The excellent healthcare teacher: arranges the delivery of education and training in a well-organised way that enables learning and accommodates other teachers’ styles and learners’ needs.
