ABSTRACT

Consultations for infertility can be complex and time consuming. This chapter explores investigations and treatment that can be undertaken within a primary or secondary care setting. It is recognised that, for most nurses working in primary care, the pathway of care that is outlined may be outside their usual scope of practice. However, a nurse who has sufficient interest in infertility can aspire to working at the level suggested in this chapter. Other nurses working in primary care may restrict their involvement with infertility to a very basic level. However, they will benefit from understanding the projected pathway of care on which patients may be embarking.
