ABSTRACT

A good teacher delivers education at a level, in a style and at a time that is most appropriate to the learner – when the latter is ready and will gain most benefit. Such a teacher will also need a variety of props and aids to help them to convey the information that they want the learner to hear, understand and apply at work. Use the most appropriate audiovisual aids to command teacher’s audience's attention. Showing a video can disrupt the flow of teacher’s presentation. Keep the video film short in order to maintain the momentum of the presentation. Any patient who appears on an educational video must have given their informed consent to be filmed and know the context in which teacher will be using and showing the video. A flip chart is a useful interactive educational tool unless the person writing on it stands with their back to everyone else, blocking the view and listing their own ideas.
