ABSTRACT

Increasingly people have to work in teams, and have to be managed as multidisciplinary groups at different levels. Review the personal development needs of the team members to fulfil their roles and responsibilities. These might relate to: management skills to enable them to be effective, their attitudes to various subgroups of the population, or different disciplines and organisations. Draw up a plan for the team, and allocate lines of responsibility from leadership to delivery. Ensure that the plan is integral to all other developmental work, such as: clinical governance, plans for changes to service delivery, the service and financial frame-work and the business and investment plan. Encourage and enable teams to formulate and execute development plans that are centred on priority areas and include as many staff as possible. One of the most useful ways of monitoring the organisation – the process and the outcome – is by analysis of risk management.
