ABSTRACT
The word “please” was frequently heard during 911 calls, but innocent and guilty callers tended to use it differently. Innocent callers often used “please” with a demand, as in “Please send an ambulance!” Guilty callers were more likely to use “please” in isolation, to avoid providing information.
