ABSTRACT

Some homicides occurred when offenders lost their temper and assaulted victims in a state of rage. Many domestic violence cases and incidents of child abuse fit this profile. These offenders may immediately regret their actions and call 911 to get help for the victims. Although they sincerely want the victims to live, they cannot divulge the entire truth to the dispatchers because they are in self-preservation mode. Some of these callers could be heard apologizing to the victims while on the phone with the dispatchers. Callers would have no need to apologize unless they were involved in the offense.
