ABSTRACT

This chapter is a critically important one as all models and configurations of professional development can be enhanced with a strong coaching component. This chapter explores three models—Cognitive Coaching, Instructional Coaching, and Peer Coaching. Moving into differentiated supports, coaching is examined including the conditions that need to be present and ways to connect these processes throughout other forms of differentiated and developmental professional learning opportunities such as action research, lesson study, or in the development of a portfolio. Coaches help teachers learn, develop, and succeed.
