ABSTRACT

Collaborative Teacher Development Musanti and Pence (2010) noted the complexities of teacher development

and the role of collaboration in this process. The authors asserted that “professional development needs to be conceived as a collaborative enterprise, where a space for learning through mutual exchange, dialogue, and constant challenge is created” (p. 87). Levine (2010) examined different theories related to the study and design of collaborative teacher learning:

♦ Inquiry community;

♦ Teacher professional community;

♦ Community of learners;

♦ Community of practice;

♦ Activity theory; and,

♦ Third spaces.
