ABSTRACT

Previous chapters describe the storage, cleaning, integration and searching of biological data. In this chapter, the extraction of useful information from biological data repositories is explored. These repositories are often quite large. Extraction of valuable “nuggets of information” from large collections of data is known as data mining. Gathering of such useful information from collections of biological data is simply called biological data mining.
