ABSTRACT

Posiva’s EDZ Study Program consists of a group of geophysical and hydrological measurements as well as geological, hydrological and rock mechanical modelling. The study program produces input data for long term safety modelling, which inspects the effect of excavation damage zone (EDZ) for long term safety of spent nuclear fuel repository. Mainly for the purpose of researching if the EDZ can act as continuous hydrological pathway, thus increasing a degree of risk for long term safety in case of canister failure.
