ABSTRACT

Upon completion of Chapter 10, readers will be able to describe organizations as a listening entity. They will be able to explain how differences in organizational listening can affect an organization’s culture and climate (e.g., employee relationships, social support, emotional intelligence), outline the benefits of good organizational listening, and describe the costs of poor listening. They will also be able to compare and contrast human listening competencies to organizational two-way symmetrical communication with its stakeholders. Understanding these concepts will assist readers in assessing future employers as well as in crafting questions to ask during interviews.
