ABSTRACT
Upon completing Chapter 13, readers will be able to describe areas of emerging listening research (e.g., fMRI methodology, music, social support, technology, architecture). They will be able to: 1) outline the impact of fMRI research on our growing understanding of the physiology of listening; 2) explain the link between music and listening on memory and behavior; and, 3) define aural architecture and its affect on listening behavior. Finally, students will be able to describe the effect of personal technologies (e.g. Smart phones and tablets) on social support and other aspects of listening.
