ABSTRACT

Fashion is normally composed of five elements. Color is one of them and the remaining are texture, pattern, style, and silhouette. There are various stages where one can introduce ornamentation for design purposes: fiber, yarn, weaving or knitting, dyeing, and finishing. In knitting, stitches are used for creating various effects. But there are limitations in creating effects by stitches due to low machine speed, less feed utilization, less efficiency, and time-consuming process of design change. Jacquard technique is commonly known as individual stitch selection. This is the most widely used method for producing design in knitted fabrics. The twill effect is produced by the combination of knit and miss stitches on even and odd needles but this odd, even behavior changes on their respective colored yarn. Bird's eye is a combination of knit and miss stitches at alternative position, which shows the bird's-eye effect.
