ABSTRACT

The concept of the Phoenix is about the ability to change and renew and more importantly inspire their staff to change as well. This chapter focuses on the fundamental concepts of change along with strategies to improve this important skill. Evolutionary change is the change that happens over time. This can be defined as the natural progress through life that we experience on a daily basis. The progression is slow so oftentimes the observable changes are not noticed in real time but rather over time. One of the most recognized and utilized theories of change is that of Kurt Lewin. A social scientist that believed that human behavior was a delicate balance of various forces that oftentimes were in conflict with each other. This conflict is what has a tendency to create resistance and stagnation. Merriam-Webster defines innovation as "the introduction of something new or the generation of a new idea, method or device".
