ABSTRACT

THE third volume of the Census of 1871 has at length appeared. .

This volume possesses peculiar interest for all who have the welfare of women at heart, as it contains the occupations of the people, and by comparing it with the similar volume of the Census of 1861, one can ascertain what progress women are making in entering into desirable occupations suitable for them, and what effect has been produced during a period of ten years by the various efforts for promoting their employment.
