ABSTRACT

MRs. P. A. TAYLOR died at Brighton on April 11, 1908, in the 98th year of her age. Her death will awaken many memories. Her father, Mr. John Doughty, was a farmer and tanner at Brockdish, near Diss, in Norfolk, and here Clementia (called for the most part Mentia) was born on December 17, 1810, one of twelve children. The farmhouse was about a mile from the village, and to the close of her life Mrs. Taylor often recalled this home and its sloping garden, at the bottom of which ran the little river Waveney, dividing Norfolk from Suffolk.
