ABSTRACT

At the third session of the Annual Conference of the Women's National Liberal Association which opened on May 24, Mrs. Byles, who presided, moved :-

" That this Council, being conscious of the great development of political thought and activity among women engendered by the rea,ctionary policy of the Government in regard to education and local government, and by the proposals for protective tariffs now before the country, feels that the claim, for their enfranchisement bas become greatly strengthened, and strongly commends to the affiliated associations Q, careful study of the proposed methods of enfranchisement in order that they may fully realise the relative merits of each."
