ABSTRACT
The Committee announce that by the kindness of friends the debt on the buildings of this department has been removed. Special efforts are now being made to obtain money for the library and for laboratory equipment, since the· notable increase in the number of University students necessitates greater expenditure in all parts of the College,
The presentation to Miss Welsh, on the occasion of her retirement from the mistress-ship of Girton College, Cambridge, which post she held from 1885 to 1903, took place on October 8, at the N otting Hill High School (by kind permission of the head mistress). The presentation consisted of a portrait of Miss Welsh, by Mr. John Lavery, R.S.A., which was subscribed for by past and present students of the College. The picture will be exhibited at the New Gallery, from January 9 to February 10, and in Paris during May and June, and will, .it is hoped, be eventually hung in the College Hall.
