ABSTRACT
MANCHESTER.-At a special meeting of the Corporation of Manchester, on October 6, the !reedom of the city was presented to Mrs. Rylands, the munificent donor of the John Rylands Library, which had that day been opened to the public, under their direction. The ceremony took place in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall.
