ABSTRACT

We are indebted to Lady Stout, President of the Southern Cross .Society of New Zealand,· for the programme of this Society, whose object is "to ameliorate the condition of life of women in the Colony, and the advancement of social, political and legislative reforms which specially concern women;" also for the publi,cations of. the National Council of Women of New Zealand, whose first meeting took place at Christchurch ,in Al?ril last, when a full programme of subjects was discussed throughout the week.
