Castle Hall, Durham, on December 11, a petition was read and voted upon praying the Queen in Council to grant a supplementary charter conferring powers to grant degrees to women. After reciting the various powers granted by the Charter of the University the Petition proceeds :-
The vDtes in favour of setting the seal of the University to the Petition were 17 for to 1 against. The result was received with appla.use and hurra.h.
