ABSTRACT

In the February and March numbers of the Geological Magazine Miss Agnes Crane gives an account of recent researches ~m the" Geological Distribution of Brachiopods. "

Miss Ormerod's work is already widely known. Her latest report of "Observations on Injurious Insects and Farmers' Pests" is said to give prominence to several considerations which have not hitherto received much attention. She has also within the last twelve months issued a leaflet on the" Forest Fly," a pest to Hampshire farmers, and has also published an abstract of information on the history and habits of the " Warble Fly," a seriously destructive cattle pest. This book records the information gathered by British observers during the past ten years, and deals also with the practical means of prevention and remedy.
