Were the artistic beauty of these pa.intings less than it is they wauld yet retain a distinct historical value .. It would take too long to give alist of the landscapes and figure pieces which ca.1l for attention, but we cannot pass over the two landscapes by the late Madame Bodichon, one of which "A Swamp near New Orleans" (273), conveys an idea of the acme of desolation.
