ABSTRACT

The description of Wycombe Abbey, which the Company have secured for their first school, with its fine range of buildings and extensive grounds, calls to mind the stately abbeys of an older time when the education of English girls was carried on under the calm and dignified rwe of the abbesses of the great abbeys. N ow the same impressiveness of stately wellordered surroundings is reappearing in our educational system, all that was best in the olden times preserved -with a difference-the difference between the range and standard of knowledge then and now.
