ABSTRACT

Globalisation has affected further education (FE) colleges over the last few decades requiring entrepreneurialism for colleges to survive. We explore the changing face of FE over recent decades and scholarly research on Chinese students studying in the UK. As a research gap exists on younger pre-university Chinese students, older university students are mainly discussed. Amongst the various difficulties they encounter, second-language learning is their major obstacle. The two colleges participating in the research for this book are then discussed with the young study participants introduced.
