ABSTRACT

Bayesian inference is different from Null Hypothesis Significance Testing. Its proponents argue that it is a more appropriate approach to examining data. The increasing capacity and speed of processing of computers has allowed problems which have previously been intractable, following a Bayesian approach, to be solved by iterative methods. As with all forms of statistics it needs to be used with care and, until it is more widely understood, its use will have to be reported with more detail than for currently conventional tests.
