ABSTRACT

The definitions of the fugacity coefficient and fugacity of a mixture by Equations 13.7b and 13.8, respectively, bring up an interesting extension to the idea of treating a mixture of constant composition as a pseudo–pure compound. For a pure compound, the chemical potential is equal to the molar Gibbs energy of the compound. Thus, we can rewrite Equation 12.9 as https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> g = R T   ln   f + g * ( T , 1 ) https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781315399065/5df30985-80c1-4e11-9533-10c20ed2604c/content/un14_e001.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
