ABSTRACT

In Section I, we reviewed the fundamentals, while in Section II, Chapters 5–17, we studied the behavior of mixtures. In this chapter, the first specifically considering an application of the thermodynamics of mixtures, attention is centered on a reacting system. As usual in thermodynamics, we do not consider the kinetics of the process but, as discussed in Chapters 8 and 12, we only pay attention to the final state of the system at equilibrium, after reactions have occurred.
