ABSTRACT
My goal in Chapter Two is to establish a detailed baseline from which to evaluate coastal change and the maritime heritage crisis. Toward that end, I attend here to the twin problems of sea level rise and coastal sprawl. This sets the stage for both Chapter Three, where I discuss resource management as the mainstream response, and Chapter Four, where I apply the coastal change concept to the maritime heritage crisis as it is unfolding in coastal British Columbia.
