ABSTRACT

The following are brief descriptions of the types of tests done to establish if the fabric is fit for purpose.

• Fabric construction: You have a legal responsibility to ensure that the fiber composition label on the garment is correct. You also need to know that the supplier has not substituted an alternative fabric or blend without informing you. Fiber construction (number of warp and weft threads per inch or the machine gauge and number of threads for knitted garments) and yarn count are the components that go into making of the base fabric.
