ABSTRACT
Carlisle has been frustrated by a lady in a singular manner. A window of a house in Brunton Place, occu-
. pied by a Mrs. Thompson, had been tampered with, and lately Miss Thompson, suspecting an attempt woula be made, sat up for the burglar, who entered through the window about one o'clock. With great courage Miss Thompson confronted the man, who hastily retreated. An alarm was raised, but the burglar got clear away.
