THE question has often been asked "What special work falls to the share of ladies who are members of the Poor Law Boards and how is their influence shown in the management of the paupers? " To answer this question a series of inquiries waa directed some months ago to lady-guardians, and the following are a few of their replies. It is believed that these will afford sufficient evidence of the advantages to paupers and ratepayers alike of having competent women on these Boards.
