ABSTRACT

There are many aspects to applied sport psychology, but the ability to present and engage a group of people is one of the most powerful tools in the practitioner’s arsenal-although presenting is just one aspect of working with groups. We must also consider the importance of other competencies such as the ability to assess needs, collaborate with leadership, design curriculum, implement programs and applied activities, present material, debrief activities, communicate and connect, problem solve, adapt, and evaluate the program. There are many subtle aspects to effective consulting, but even just within the context of working with groups and teams, a wide variety of factors are at play.
