ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides a brief overview of globalization, its key dimensions, drivers and the effects of globalization, and future trends. Globalization involves four key dimensions, the flow of trade, investment, people, and information. The book addresses the questions of why, what, where, and how in the context of international business. It also addresses the two main contents of global business: trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). The book discusses the key contexts that multinational corporations (MNCs) should be aware of when they screen and assess business opportunities in foreign markets. They include political, economic, sociocultural, and monetary environments. The book covers both strategic decisions and practices of MNCs' production, accounting, finance, marketing, and human resource management. It also covers how companies deal with sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and business ethics.
