ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the concept of sustainability at the global level and the company level. It discusses the role of multinational companies in sustainable development. The chapter examines the three key dimensions of corporate sustainability. It describes the pyramid of global corporate social responsibility. The chapter also discusses how to recognize and resolve cross-border ethical dilemmas. As the impact of corporate business practices on society and the environment has become increasingly profound, people are more and more concerned with issues such as sustainable development, corporate sustainability (CS), corporate social responsibility (CSR), and business ethics. The term "sustainability" concerns the long-term survival of a society or an organization since it measures the ability to sustain or the capacity to endure. Sustainable development focuses on achieving balance between current economic growth and environmental preservation for future generations. It includes three interdependent but mutually reinforcing pillars: economic growth, social development, and environmental protection.
