ABSTRACT

As school leaders we spend much of the summer planning for the upcoming year. We discuss goals, map out objectives to obtain those goals, and then we set out to achieve them. We build leadership teams that refl ect all aspects and departments in our building. Instinctively, we are social creatures who surround ourselves with people who think like us or act like us. So it only makes sense when making decisions about the success of the school to build our leadership team with people who believe, think, and often act like we do. Unfortunately, you may fi nd yourself in a situation where the leadership team only thinks one way and sees things from one perspective. This becomes very dangerous as you may miss certain aspects of a situation that may derail your focus on student success.
