ABSTRACT

The basic premise of genuine leadership is the sharing of how we engage and develop students in order to comprehensively meet their individual needs. It’s that interactive relationship built upon trust, honesty, respect, allocation of resources, and the collective understanding of the vision and mission of the school. The principal remains the pinnacle of authority and decision-making, but defers to those educators who have the expertise, resources, buy-in, and community connections to build a collective capacity of serving student needs at all grade levels. This decision-making structure allows for the multiple exchange of information and ideas, increasing awareness of differentiated learning and implementing a more comprehensive plan of instructional delivery, ultimately increasing the effectiveness of the school’s ability to cultivate student success.
