ABSTRACT
Two of the sports that I grew up playing as a kid were football and basketball. I remember being told that football was a contact sport and basketball was a non-contact sport. However, I have very clear memories of being battered and bruised after basketball games and wondering who on earth thought no one made contact in basketball. It was certainly the case of saying one thing, but experiencing another. I believe that this also occurs in schools when we are discussing parent and community involvement.
