ABSTRACT

Trust is a power thing. Merriam-Webster (2015b) defi nes trust as having, “Confi dence or faith in something or someone.” There is nothing more powerful than having a staff willing to have confi dence and faith that you are making the right decisions and leading them in the right direction. Also, many decisions come down from the district offi ce that will require the school leader to make certain decisions or mandate a certain process or policy that may not be easily understood by the staff. They need to trust that you as the school leader will look out for their best interests and, more importantly, the best interests of the children, without leading them in the wrong direction.
