ABSTRACT
By far the most outstanding figure in the Muslim world of India during the nineteenth century was Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the founder of the Muham madan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh, which has now become the Muslim University and accepts students from all over India and from other lands in the East.
